How do computers get malware?

How do computers get malware? It’s really not that difficult. Once you start downloading files from the internet you can be sure of getting infected with one or the other type of malware. Malware are of many types. Viruses, Adware, Spy ware, Trojan horses and Root kit are just some of the names. Viruses are pretty common and known to every individual. Even novices know that viruses are programs that keep on creating duplicate files and thus keep on jamming your computer memory. Few jobs keep your local Computer Consulting business as busy as trying to keep their customer’s computers clean.

Adware are those unwanted advertisements that keep on popping even when you don’t want to look at them. The advertisements range from matrimonial to even silicon implantations! Trojan horse is very interesting. It is a sort of a hypocrite that will promise you to do something but will immediately do the opposite of it. Root kit is different from all of these malwares. It conceals different applications and permits them to perform malicious activities without your permission.

The solution:

What is the solution to all this? Does this mean you will never surf the internet and only make word documents in the computer? By Jove, no! How can you even think of that?  The first thing that you will do when you switch on the computer is install antivirus software. But your Antivirus software can’t be just any antivirus software.

Go for the latest version even if it costs you a decent sum of money. It will be very helpful once you install it. Once a week don’t overlook the fact that you need to update the version. Most MSP’s or IT Support Providers will offer the service of monitoring your antivirus updates for you to ensure you never fall out of date.

Can you swear and say that you have never visited a “non-work related” website?

Relax my friend. Even I have. But I have just done one good thing. I have installed free malware removal software. This keeps my computer running at top speed without regular help.

If you want to be more careful then you can do one more thing. You can install a scanner. If you are thinking about the scanner that is attached to your central processing unit then you are not guessing it right. The online scanner that I am talking about scans your computer and tells you whether your computer has malware.

This software will be excellent for your computer because it will automatically detect malware once you start the process. The process can take some time. But the wait is worth it. It’s better if you do not operate other programs at that time. Panda scan and Kaspersky Webscanner are some of the best scanners that you can try out. If you surf the net you will also get detailed information about how to use this software.

If you found your PC has been infected and standard means for removal don’t seem to be working, it may be time to call in your professional computer consultant to do the job.
